Section 01
Load Selection and Bearing Specification
Which bearing suits a mining excavator swing drive?
An excavator swing drive usually starts from a tapered roller series (EE/HM/LM) or a large-bore spherical roller bearing. Confirm these parameters before anything else:
- Radial and axial combined load rating – a 50-ton class swing drive typically calls for Cr ≥ 2 000 kN
- Operating speed – normally 0-8 rpm in oscillating motion; confirm an L10h target of at least 25 000 hours
- Bore diameter and housing fit – supply shaft Ø and housing bore so the interference fit can be checked to ISO 286
- Contamination and sealing – mining duty needs sealed TS or TSS variants, or a labyrinth seal mounted outside the housing
Engineering note
Send the part number or drawing and our load-calculation team will cross-reference it, then issue a formal specification sheet within 24 hours covering equivalent model confirmation plus dynamic and static load calculations.
Which bearing types suit mill roll necks with heavy radial shock?
Roll neck duty in a steel mill means radial loads up to 5 000 kN with heavy shock, vibration, and contamination. The arrangements normally specified are:
| Bearing type | Design series | Typical duty / note |
|---|---|---|
| Four-row tapered | TQO / TQOS | Hot strip and heavy plate mills |
| Spherical roller | 23000 / 24000 | Misalignment tolerance ±2° |
| Cylindrical roller | NU / NJ / NUP | High-speed cold mill work rolls |
Engineering note
The TQO design exists for roll neck duty and works at a C/P ratio of 3 or higher under shock. Common roll neck sizes (Ø 200-600 mm) are held in stock for emergency pull.
Do main shaft bearings carry combined axial and radial load in wind turbines?
A wind turbine main shaft has to carry combined radial load and axial thrust while the wind load keeps changing. The arrangements built for that duty:
- Spherical roller bearings – accept shaft misalignment up to ±1.5°, with Cr from 1 500 to 6 000 kN across 1.5-5 MW turbines
- CARB toroidal rollers – suited to 3-point suspension, where free axial displacement removes thermal preload
- Target L10h of at least 175 000 hours to IEC 61400-4; wind-grade bearings are validated against that figure
Technical spec reference
IEC 61400-4 · ISO 281 · bearing wind-energy engineering manual. Send the MW rating of the turbine plus its hub loads and we will propose a complete bearing arrangement.
How do I read a tapered roller designation for load ratings and dimensions?
The designation follows a fixed structure. Take EE128110D / 128160:
| Part | Value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Prefix | EE | Extra-heavy series |
| Bore code | 128110 | Ø 279.4 mm bore |
| Suffix | D | Double cup design |
| Cup number | 128160 | Matching outer race |
Send the part number and we will send back the dimensional drawing, the Cr and C0r ratings, cage style, and available sealing options.
What lubrication do heavy-duty bearings need at high temperature?
In steel mills and foundries where ambient temperature runs above 80°C, lubricant choice decides bearing life:
Grease (≤ 120°C)
NLGI #2 lithium complex
An EP grease such as Mobilgrease XHP 222 or an equivalent, with base oil viscosity in the ISO VG 150-220 range
Oil (120-200°C)
Circulating oil system
Mineral or synthetic oil at ISO VG 320-680 with forced circulation; oil inlet temperature ≤ 50°C
Standard reference
Lubrication section 4.3 of the bearing engineering manual. Re-greasing intervals run from 500 to 2 000 operating hours, depending on temperature and the speed factor (n·dm).
Section 02
Project Lead Times and Delivery
What lead time should I expect on heavy-duty bearing orders?
It depends on whether the model is stocked and how large the order is. The tiers we work to:
| Order type | Lead time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| In-stock models | 48h | Dispatch inside 48 hours for 8 000+ stocked heavy SKUs |
| Standard orders | 7-14d | Non-stocked models pulled from manufacturer stock |
| Special / OEM | 4-8w | Custom cages, special steels, non-standard bore configurations |
Every order comes with a formal quotation, confirmed lead time, traceability documents, and a shipping plan within 24 hours of the inquiry.
Our mine is down – can you ship emergency bearings inside 48 hours?
Yes. Mine-down response is a core capability, and the protocol runs like this:
- 1 Model number sent by WhatsApp – stock confirmation back within 2 hours
- 2 Priority pull from the heavy-stock warehouse, with no queue in front of it
- 3 Air charter escalation into the airport closest to your site – DDP terms offered for AU, ZA, and BR
- 4 Paperwork (mill certificate, packing list, invoice) issued the same day
Can stock be reserved for planned maintenance shutdowns?
Yes. A supply framework agreement (SFA) sets aside stock for shutdowns you schedule and for annual maintenance programs:
- A dedicated warehouse allocation against your model list, with availability guaranteed 90 days before the shutdown date
- Fixed pricing for 12 months under the agreement, which shields the budget from supply volatility
- Phased delivery scheduling, coordinated with your maintenance calendar for just-in-time arrival on site
The minimum annual commitment starts at USD 50 000. Talk to the project team about your maintenance schedule.
Section 03
Heavy Cargo and Logistics
Which shipping modes cover large-bore, heavy bearing orders?
We run a multimodal network out of Shanghai, built around industrial bearing cargo:
Sea freight
FCL / LCL / OOG cargo
Whole container, consolidated load, or out-of-gauge handling for slewing rings over 2 m OD, dispatched straight from the Yangshan terminal.
Air freight
Emergency escalation
Air priority for mine-down cases, 500 kg maximum per consignment, flown into AU, ZA, BR, or SA.
Rail / road
China-Europe rail
Cost-effective into RU and EU, at 18-22 days transit against 35-40 days by sea.
Trade terms
EXW / FOB / CIF / DDP
Full Incoterms 2020 support, with DDP available to AU, ZA, and BR for straightforward customs clearance.
Which export documents come with an industrial bearing shipment?
Every shipment leaves with a complete documentation package:
Where an EPC import needs Form A or GSP certificates, or SONCAP/PVOC compliance for Nigeria, Kenya and similar markets, tell us at order stage so the paperwork can be arranged in advance.
How are slewing rings above 1 m OD packed for remote mine sites?
Bearings that size need purpose-built packaging and handling:
- A custom wooden crate on a steel base frame, with VCI anti-corrosion packaging, desiccant, and foam cushioning to ISO 2248
- OOG flat-rack containers where the bearing exceeds standard container dimensions, coordinated with port forwarders
- Port-to-site last-mile logistics, arranged with local agents in AU, ZA, and BR for inland delivery to remote mines
Section 04
Failure Analysis and Root Cause
Our excavator bearings fail in under 3 000 hours – what are the usual causes?
Premature failure – actual life below 30% of rated L10h – in excavator duty usually comes down to one of five causes:
Contamination / ingress
Mining dust at ISO 4406 cleanliness worse than 20/18/15 causes abrasive wear. Check seal integrity and re-greasing intervals, and move to TS-type sealed bearings.
Overload / wrong C/P ratio
Past 80% of the Cr rating, real radial load starts accelerating fatigue spalling. Recompute the equivalent dynamic load from measured dig-force data.
Mounting / interference fit
A bad press fit creates trouble either way: too loose and fretting starts, too tight and internal clearance shrinks. Check shaft and housing tolerances against the ISO 286 fit table.
Lubrication breakdown
Too little grease, the wrong viscosity grade, or stretched re-greasing intervals at high ambient temperature all collapse the oil film.
Counterfeit / unverified supply
Bearings from unverified sources often show poor steel cleanliness (KL factor below 1.0) and inconsistent heat treatment. Check the batch codes etched on the rings every time.
Our failure analysis service
Send photographs of the damaged part (raceway, cage, rolling surfaces) together with the operating conditions. Within 48 hours our engineers return a written analysis with corrective actions, and existing customers pay nothing for it.
How do I spot a counterfeit bearing in the field?
A traceable bearing carries markers that a counterfeit rarely reproduces. Field checklist:
- Laser-engraved model number – crisp and uniform in depth on the cup outside diameter, while a fake usually shows uneven stamping or printing in ink.
- Batch code traceability – a 4-6 digit heat or batch code that can be matched to mill certificate records
- Packaging quality – security holograms, even print quality, and a part number on the box that matches the bearing
- Dimensional accuracy – check bore, OD, and width against catalog tolerances with calibrated instruments; counterfeits routinely fall outside ABEC-3 limits
Every bearing we ship arrives with a full mill certificate and batch traceability documentation, so authentication never rests on a visual judgment call.
What does spalling fatigue look like on a failed raceway?
Spalling, or contact fatigue, is the usual end-of-life mode in heavy-duty bearings. What to look for:
- Visual – pitting or flaking on the raceway, with craters of roughly 0.5-5 mm across the loaded band
- Sound – uneven, on-and-off noise rather than the steady hiss of a contaminated bearing, and sub-harmonic content in the vibration spectrum
- Where it sits – spalling on the inner ring usually means overload or a poor fit; on the outer ring it points to a housing bore problem or overloading
Corrective action
Spalling that appears at or after the rated L10h is ordinary wear and needs no investigation. Spalling before half of L10h does: examine the C/P ratio, viscosity ratio (κ), and contamination factor (eC) as set out in ISO 281 Annex A.

Project Cooperation and OEM Supply
How does the OEM framework serve construction machinery builders?
The OEM process runs in four stages, built for construction and mining machinery manufacturers who need stable, traceable bulk supply:
Formal quotation – within 24 hours
Send the model list or BOM and a formal quote returns with pricing per unit, MOQ, confirmed lead time, and the traceability paperwork.
Sample verification and trial batch
Samples ship with a full dimensional report and mill certificate. The trial batch – typically 50-200 pcs – covers assembly-line fit verification and field testing.
Supply framework agreement
An annual volume commitment brings dedicated stock reservation, fixed pricing, and delivery batches scheduled to your production calendar.
Full-cycle tracking and emergency support
A dedicated account manager, live shipment tracking, 48-hour emergency escalation, and continuing failure analysis throughout the agreement.
What is the minimum order quantity for heavy-duty bearings?
MOQ policy leaves room for both a single emergency unit and a large OEM program:
Emergency / trial
1 pc
A single unit for a mine-down repair or sample verification, with no MOQ applied
Standard order
5 pcs
The practical floor for competitive unit pricing and full paperwork
OEM framework
50+ pcs
Volume breaks begin at 50, 200, and 500+ units of a given SKU each year
For large-bore bearings (Ø > 300 mm) with long lead times, place framework orders 60-90 days ahead so availability is guaranteed.
Is on-site support available for installation and commissioning?
Technical support is tiered according to how critical the installation is:
- Remote engineering support – installation procedure, torque values, and fit tolerance guidance by WhatsApp or video call, on every order
- Documentation package – mounting instructions, torque tables, and arrangement drawings shipped with the order
- On-site dispatch – offered on major EPC work and annual shutdowns involving critical equipment (a SAG mill or kiln trunnion, for instance); ask us about scheduling and cost
Key installation standards
ISO 15242 (vibration measurement), ISO 5593 (bearing vocabulary), and chapter 7 of the bearing engineering manual (mounting and dismounting). Technical guidance follows these.
